The final tune-up races are almost in the books before the 2020 Kentucky Derby sets off Sept. 5 from historic Churchill Downs. The 148th Run for the Roses isn’t in its usual spot in May or at the head of the Triple Crown schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2019-20 NBA season went on hiatus on March 11 because of the coronavirus pandemic. On June 4, the NBA’s Board of Governors approved a competitive format for the comeback of the 2019-20 season with 22 teams returning to play and a start date of July 30.
The Kentucky Derby is five weeks from Saturday and the final round of prep races have begun, with the July 18 Haskell (G1) producing three expected contestants. Major contenders will be in action over the next two weekends in the Shared Belief S. at Del Mar (Aug. 1), Travers (G1) at Saratoga (Aug. 8), and Ellis Park Derby (Aug. 9).
